In case this is true, I propose Jorge to allow some options open. Leicas are super cameras ok, but not the end-dream of all of us. The prejudiced axiomatic inspiration is false.
Take for example a guy like me. I am not yet dragged in by Leica stuff, but I am rather an activist of the opposition, and perhaps forever. (Sorry Ferider, too fancy and expensive train to catch). The Leica mini-avatar for people like me (if there are at all) will be more of an obstacle to money contribute than an incentive.

The Leica message is rather contradictory by itself: High quality with High Class, upper social class. Not my banner.

I sort of agree, I'm not struck on the mini MP avatar but it won't put me off joining when I get paid. I like it but can see that it would not be to everyones taste even though I have a Leica. A more descreet option along the lines of a small banner (a little JPG of text) stating 'Site Sponsor' or 'Premium Gallery'. That way it cannot be added by a change to the user profile but is clear that the user is supporting the site.

On a lighter note, I like my Bessa L. 🙂 seriously I do!

We should all give Jorge a break though, he's been busy getting the site moved to a much better system as well as enhancing the funding and 'recognition of funding' indicators.

I was under the impression that the consensus was that no indication would be made for premium members. I think this sucks. I don't like the way RFF is changing. RFF is no longer the friendly "pub" it used to be. Welcome to McRFF.

I´m not going to criticize anyone here, but there are a few questions which may perhaps, clarify all this...
Is there any need to diferentiate a member who payed from those other who didn´t?
If yes, a single line ... "site sponsor"... isn´t enough? ... or a big white dot following the member´s nickname....
If no, then there is no need to use a MP mini avatar... or anythng else!

I (IMHO) think it´s a silly question, but arguing about would lead Us to discuss about matters far apart from photography and RF cameras...

Just my opinion, nothing else.

I can't comment on how it was before, but I do feel a bit like a jerk posting now.

(I don't own a paypall account, don't even have a creditcard, so I have no way of contributing and getting a fancy leica under my name.)

I think mini avatars are . . .a waste of space. Perhaps highlighting the screen name is better, if any badge of premium gallery membership is necessary.

More clutter is not better in any way.

and having this badge of payment - because that is what it boils down to - is pointless.

It would be cool to see statistics on membership - to see how the site is doing in terms of income - but individual separation is not the best choice.

Any badge of premium gallery membership creates a 2-tiered membership. If you are going to do it, then use 3 revolving crowns and let it look as tacky as it is in principle.

Frank (S), I am sad to see you upset. Then again I was sad when Frank G got wild. Personaly I do mind any change as long the 'Good' people are sticking around. I am here for the people and not for anything special the site has to offer. Frankly (sorry for the pun) the site is so new that it offers little as a static source of info. The members is RFF. For contrast, pnet can freeze its forums and allow only searches and it will still be useful for long time. I think it is all growing pains... give it some time and the cosmetics will get better... I hope...
