I really enjoy the option of using the OVF.
Be sure you set the menu for parallax correction
When several high-contracst targets are inside or very close to the focus region box, if you have time, switch momentarily to the zoomed EVF view to make sure the focus is locked where you think it is.
Obviously at narrower apertures this advice is less relevant.

Akiva, I was just about to send you a PM asking why you're selling the X-E2 so soon. Now I see. 🙂 I'm with you... my X-Pro1 has stayed in my kit for a year and a half now (longest I've owned any digital camera!) while others have gone to the auction block (X-E1, soon another X-E1, and some m4/3 gear). The X-Pro1 ticks off so many boxes on my list of desirables, especially when compared to anything else. I'm not even really tempted by the X-T1 (well, maybe just a little). But even the X-T1 falls short by not having the optical viewfinder option. I've held the X-T1 for a bit; the EVF is quite stunning, and the weather sealing is tempting. But... the X-Pro1 is going to win again I believe. 😛

The XP1 is a great body. Getting it now means that you can delay buying the XP2 until prices come down. Now is a good time to put the money into XF lenses.

Ahhhhh... Ovf is for scale/zone focus w/ legacy lenses. U still need the evf for manual focus. Set the size of the lens to get the right size frame lines. Either use the lever or the mag/scroll button to switch to evf from ovf. If u used the mag button, then a half shutter puts u back to ovf for final composition.

Congrats...still love my x pro. OVF is the way to go. I just got an OLY e-m10 for travel but x pro remains my number one. Can't wait for the 56. XT1 ticks some boxes but I really know that I would miss that OVF.

Now I am really curious about the X-Pro1. The one time I tried it in the shop or a local show, I was confused with the inaccuracy of the brightline frame.
Could someone explain to me a bit about using it with 35mm and the 18-55mm lens?

What type specific I accuracy are u asking about? Frame line size or parallex?
Parallex is a given as the distance gets closer, no difference then normal rf film camera.
If I remember correctly, Fuji provided a firmware update to tighten up the frame line size.. Basically being conservative to give a bit more in real image to account for things like parallex.
For their own zoom lenses, the frame lines change w/ the zoom.. There was a fw update when the first zoom was shipped.

I read that it had problems with auto focus and that somehow the ocular viewfinder--which is very appealing to me in principle--couldn't be used to focus adapted lenses, which seemed odd. It is a rather large camera as well--which might appeal to some, but not to me. I am happy to be corrected if I err n these impressions.
