While I await my P and a Black Jupiter-12 (I've tested the combination before to work well, its the chrome that seems to be too big), I was curious as to other focal lengths of FSU lens and how they may work on the P.

Particularly I'm wondering how a black (if that makes a difference in this case) Industar-61 55/2.8 would be.

The Industar 61 should be fine. It is extremely sharp and very high contrast -- too much contrast for some people. Sometimes build quality can be a little iffy, but it is a relatively easy lens to CLA yourself -- or you can send it to fedka.com.

There may be a slight focus shift (FSU lenses work to a slightly different standard than regular Leica) but it should only be noticeable at f/2.8 and very close in, 1 meter or so. I use the Industar on my Bessa R and have always been pleased with the results.

The Industar is a really nice lens, very sharp with lots of contrast and good strong colours. Just be sure to get the L/D version – the glass is way better than the standard version.

Like all Soviet lenses, the trickiest part is finding a really good one. Happy hunting.
