fuji 56 and now 50?

on full frame it's an 85 vs 75...
i have always liked both 85 & 75...75 being a bit easier to use for street shooting than the 85, but not by much...though 75's tend to be smaller.
the fuji 56 is a great lens yet i am looking forward to trying the 50...

what are you fuji folks thinking about the 50?

The size looks great. And the price is not too bad. I'm waiting to see some reviews of the optics, but I expect there'll be no problem there. I envision using the 50 to compress street scenes, and to be a nice walk-around complement to the 18/2.

The only problem I have with the 56 is that when I'm using it I am not using the equally fabulous 35mm f 1.4

I do not need another dilemma, especially one only 6mm away. 🙂

I've ordered it. I actually like this focal length. I also like the size and the WR aspects and I'm sure it'll focus faster than the 56mm.

It looks really nice - IQ looks great. I would be interested in how I go with the slower aperture. The 35mm f2 was great in every way but its speed, but subject isolation wasn't up to par for me. Might be a bit better with a 50mm...

XF18 + XF50 kit for me.
I love the 50mm equivalent (XF35) but lately I'm not feeling it, going for the XF18 most of the time, the XF50 would be a good combo when I want some reach and focus isolation.

Hopefully Fuji Canada offers a mail in rebate.

Because the 50/2 is much smaller (especially with a third-party hood), I am seriously considering selling my 56/1.2 and picking up the new lens.

I'm not in a rush so I'll wait until some optical test data is published.

I was using adapted 50mm Nikon and Pentax lenses on my Fuji X camera before I purchased the 56mm f/1.2 Fujinon. I am still using a 55mm Nikon macro lens on my Fuji X camera.

I have no need for a 50mm f/2 Fujinon lens.

I've always liked 75 on the Leica, and am now saving up to return to Fuji with an X-Pro2. So my eye is on this one. Hard to justify paying right now, though, given the ease of adapting M and SLR 50s.

Im a fan of that lens. But the 50mm f2 looks quite a bit smaller.

Looks to be a great lens - and weather protected, but the 50mm is a little to short for me; maybe the 56mm in the future, especially as it’s f1.2.

Has anyone experience of the XF 56mm f1.2 R APD? I understand it has smoother bokeh than the 56mm R. Anyone compared like-for-like images?

The 60/2.4 is purposed for close up photography.

Remember the whining about the 60/2.4's sluggish AF? The AF motors and gearing were slow to optimize critical AF for close-ups. This limited the lens' utility as a general purpose, medium telephoto lens.

The 50 will be the right one for those of us that need AF speed. The other two are just too slow...as great as they both are. Obviously it depends on the way that you photograph.

fujirumors latest post is that an updated 18mm is high on Fuji's to do list.
im pretty happy with the current XF18 but would be curious to see what improvements they will do. as long as they keep the compact size, I'm sold.

I keep going farther retro. I have at least 6- 50mm lenses at the moment and the only AF is the 50mm f2.8 Zeiss macro. I'm putting my gear together for a four week photo trip and it appears that I'll take either 3 or 4 50mm lenses.

50mm f1.5 Sonnar with Anedeo adapter
Velvet 56 lens (close to a 50!)
50mm Prakticar (for the bokeh)
I've got a couple of tiny little Russian 50's that might go, too, as well as a 50mm f1.4 PF-Rokkor (pre-MC)

I have the 56mm Fuji lens but I don't see any reason to take it.
