Fuji announced an IR version of their XT1

Fuji’s been offering IR digital cameras for years. My organization almost bought a “IS Pro” for natural resources photography back around 2007 or so.

Why not just produce a full-spectrum camera and use appropriate filters as needed? Just wondering....

That's going to be great until you see how badly some of the lenses hot-spot with IR.

But that is basically true of just about all cameras converted to ir.. There is bound to some lenses in the lineup for that said manufacturer that will have hot spot issues, I believe.

It sounds like it is pretty much a full spectrum.. They mentioned uv, visible light range and ir up to 1000nm.

For one, the glass that filters UV and IR is extremely sensitive to moisture, and you don't want it outside the camera or available to the elements. That is the essence of the M9 sensor rust problem.
