Hey all,
I was just checking my camera for full functionality in preparation for my upcoming trip out west. I removed an old soft shutter release in favor of a newer one, and when doing so I think I may have broken something. I used pliers and acetone to remove the old release, which had been threadlocked on to prevent loss. To my memory, the shutter button did NOT always spin freely without stopping in either direction before and now it does. The shutter fires without issue and nothing seems to be wrong otherwise, just the dang thing keeps spinning and spinning. I know this isn't a huge issue but I just want to be 100% confident in my camera while traveling. Anyone have any idea what can be done to stop the issue? Do others have the same symptom? I assume the shutter button is simply a mechanism for pushing the rod down which ultimately actuates the shutter, but either way it didn't use to act this way and the fact that it does now is slightly disconcerting. I may be blowing this way out of proportion...so please set me straight. Thanks all.\
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the shutter button now has about a 1/4 inch of vertical travel now as well...as in I can pull on it upwards and it floats up until it hits the collar. This, as I recall, is also abnormal. I removed the collar just now to check things out and nothing appears sheared, broken, or otherwise. Thanks!
