Just received a GW690III on flea bay and the shutter speeds seem accurate. The counter reads 027 and the condition looks great cosmetically.

This a partially what the seller stated in his ad:

"I had this (GW690III) and the Leica camera I have listed now,
checked out by a camera shop, and they
used a roll of film checking this one out.
The photos came out great and the camera is working perfectly."

Now when I activate the shutter, I hear this pinging sound but no real vibration that I could detect. Can this be a normal variation? BTW, I have another GW690III and two GSW690IIIs and they don't have any pinging.

If this is a problem, who fixes these out of production cameras? Fuji (are they in NJ) or Precision Camera Works in Chicago?

The counter on the base of the camera reads 027. According to the manual, for every 10 shots, the counter advances 1 so accordingly, this camera has had only 270 shutter actuations.

I just had the top off of my GW690ii and I've seen the mechanisms that go "Ping". The counter at the bottom is not what makes that noise. It may be parts in the top which drive the bottom counter, but it's definitely the parts in the top making mine "Ping". Looks to be a normal thing though, as it's a big hallow cavity on the top. Good acoustics for echo's.

My near identical GW670iii also does this. These cameras are far from elegant. The lenses are fantastic and really the true reason to use one.

Thanks all. The sound does appear to come from the top of the camera. I just have to put film through it and make sure everything works.
