Fuji rangefinders

Since a few weeks I found two nearly new Fuji rangefinders. A GSW690III and a GA645i.

I'm still in the learning phase; so nothing worth to post 😀. Medium format is not new for me as I have since it was launched a Bronica ETRSi with different lenses.

But now I'm completely in love with the Fuji rangefinders. Much less weight and the lenses can compete with the Bronicas (sometimes even better)

Because I'm also a collector (to much gear to use regularly 🙄), is there still a Fuji rangefinder that is worth to look after and that is supplementary to the two I have already 😕

Replace the Ga645i with the GA645Zi. All the features of the 645i, plus a very snappy Zoom from 55-90 and quieter shutter.

They're all cherries, really.

I'd look out for the wide models, they seem to be more rare & command a few more dollars. I'd like to shoot wit some of the older folding models too, they hold some allure for hiking and motorcycling (hard shell)

I'm a big fan of the GS645S and GS645W... I used them about 10-12 years ago and have been thinking of getting a new one.

I have one of the 645 folders. It's great!
I love the images it produces - I really should use it more.

I bought a gsw690II off ebay some months ago and I absolutely love it. One of the best cameras I have owned, built like a tank. Not sure about the 645 format, I've always wanted to delve into it though.

People with the Zi zoom seem to rave about them. Optically does the zoom lose anything to the fixed lenght lens versions ??

It's quiet as tractor and small as harvester but I'm in love 😉

Honeslty the main reason to pickup a Fuji is the glass is exceedingly sharp and wonderful.
The camera bodies can be kind of mediocre, but that can be ignored because of the glass.

The Fujis are great. I too had a GSW690III and the GW670III. I sold the GW670III but may someday pick up a GW690III. the GW and GSW make a sweet pair to go shooting with.

Never having owned another GS or GA I cannot comment on relative merits among the Fujis. But at the wide end the Zi zoom beats my Sekor 55mm CN (which is generally considered excellent) - noticeably more resolution and contrast, at barely more distortion. The long end does not seem to be noticeably worse, too, but as it is rather slow for a camera I usually take when I don't want to burden myself with a tripod, its 90mm do not see much use from me.

Not a bit.... Have had 3 Zi models and they are phantasmagoric.... or perhaps that should read phantasma-orgasmic. If I weren't so hung up on the big 6X9 negative/transparency because it is so close to large format for me, The Zi would be the camera that would do almost everything for me, in spaids!!

Some say the zoom range is short, but consider this. It's short of normal (or wide) on the short end comparable to the GS645S, and on the long end it's a sufficient short telephoto and a good Portrait Length for the format. Meters as good as any of the GS/GA cameras with a simple over/under system and the Autofocus was OTMTS (on the money and tack sharp) on all three of mine.
