Ebony and ivory
Elsewhere on RFF I previously posted and asked about living with the R-D1s and X100 - did one find more use etc. or was one superfluous and got good responses to that.
After having strolled the streets of Brussels (where I currently live - don't ask, don't tell...) there is only one regret remaining: why, oh, why did not I (re)buy one before?
Still have loads to learn, but man (m/f) do I enjoy that optical viewfinder and the speedy and precise AF. So far the exposure compensation dial has not proved a problem - apart from the user forgetting that he turned it :bang: - and that after removing the warning from the viewfinder 😱
If anybody is on the fence and reading this: go for it! That is if you enjoy good equipment that invites you to shoot. The X100s may have a better sensor, higher resolution etc., but I just adore the files from this little beauty. I shall not enter into an idiological discussion of what is the "right" metering of a scene, but to my eyes the X100 is the best metering camera I have ever owned beating even Nikon's best implementations of the matrix metering system. And that says something.
I suspect the X100 will soon enjoy a joint pole position with my Epson as the camera yielding the highest joy in use - greater praise I cannot bestow
Thanks for all your responses.
Xpanded - or should that be X100panded 😉
