Two of my P&S cameras broke within a month - Leica CM and Fuji Klasse S. It seems like neither can be fixed.
Anyway, I sent my Klasse S into the Fuji USA repair center weeks ago, and they finally called today to say they can't fix it and that they'll have to charge me $12 to send it back. I'm paying, but this shipping charge annoys me.
I'm going to avoid the Klasse S from now on for other reasons. The camera froze up after I dropped the camera from my lap onto the ground. It was a stupid mistake, but I don't think the camera should break so easily from a minor fall. I once dropped a Yashica T4 from a higher distance without any consequences. The Klasse camera seems fragile after this episode.
JapanExposures charges around $60 USD to handle getting an estimate from Fuji Japan. I'll probably take the gamble, but there's a chance they just can't fix the problem.
With all of this and Fuji's exit from the motion picture production business (I work in the industry), I want to say that Fuji sucks.
Fuji, you suck.
I didn't know where else to vent this opinion.

Why don't you get yourself a Olympus digital Pen, it's like a point
and shoot and you can change lenses too!

I've just been using my CLE. Why I stick to unrepairable cameras, I don't know.

Fuji Japan might be able able to service the Klasse S. Speak with Bellamy at http://japancamerahunter.com and he'll get you set up. That dude is the man. He might even know someone who could service the CM!

ha... ever try sending in a digital P&S camera that's more than a couple years old into a manufacturer?
They'll fix it but it'll cost you just as much as a new one - such is the case of our current disposable society

I can understand your frustration with the additional service charge.. But I think u underestimate luck in all this when it comes to the survival distance...I'm going to avoid the Klasse S from now on for other reasons. Unless the manufacture has designed the camera to specifically take a fall from a certain distance like the so call ruggerized cameras, whether it is 2 ft or 6 ft, theRe is luck involved. For example.. Dropped when
- when powered off
- lens fully extended for those that retract into body
Or how it lands an make a big difference
- on a corner
- flat
- on the lens shade or filter
- did it roll
Before u send the camera to Japan, my suggestion is to find out exactly why it cannot be fix.. It could turn out to be a part that not available any longer.. Or the cost of the repair is so great that u might as well buy a new camera?
Good luck

My Klasse S stopped working, Fuji Japan fixed it for free, even though it was a grey import.
The employee at Fuji US may not have been used to dealing with film cameras, explain the situation to Fuji Japan and they may want to make things right.

I was quite delighted and surprised when my ancient little Sony 2mpixel thing (bought circa 2003) died, I called Sony, and they told me to send it in. They completely refurbished it, fitted a new sensor, and sent it back free of charge.
It was one of the ones that they had some issues with a particular run of sensors, but it seems they had plenty of parts and did a nice overhaul on it. Can't ask for much more than that.

Eggs suck. I dropped one, it broke, and it couldn't be put back together again.
