I have bought an Elmar 50mm 2.8 for my Leica M4-P (M mount) and I am thinking using it with an adapter on my X-Pro1.
Would it impose any danger to the sensor when collapsed? I could have it extended all the time, but it is always nice to keep things tidy. Also, using an M mount adapter will I be able to use lenses with that focusing tab that locks at infinity?

I've collapsed the following without any issues on my X-E1 & X-E2:

Elmar 50mm f3.5
Summar 50mm f2
Summitar 50mm f2
Summicron 50mm f2
Elmar 90mm f4

My adapter is a cheap off-brand M to XF; I add an equally cheap screwmount to M adapter as needed.

When I look at the sensor on those bodies, I can see that it is surrounded by a baffle that would not allow the lens "stem" to contact the sensor, as the remaining opening is too small. However, I have never had the lenses contact that baffle either.

As always, YMMV.

It's not a great idea to collapse lenses because the barrels tend to bring dust from the outside into the sensor chamber. On an X camera, the shutter is always open when the camera is idle, so it's not hard for the dust to quickly find a new home.
