Lens is fine optically, so is the leaf shutter (I already used 3 rolls with this beast and I think they look fine). The tab/button/thing on the side for removing the lens is reaaaally tough to press down. I actually never successfully pressed the tab down all the way. Has anybody here tried this? My last resort is to probably spray some WD-40 into the tab but I'm pretty sure this is a really bad idea.

The Fujica BLP 690 has interchangeable lenses....have you drawn the blind that protects the film? Maybe it's coupled to the lens lock mechanism?

The tab on the side of the lens will only push down when the blind is fully engaged.
To do this you have to turn the catch on the base plate, in the direction of the arrow, through 180 degrees- it should then stay in place.
Then you can push down the tab at the side of the lens.
To release the blind - when you have remounted a lens - pull the tab which is on the back, left hand side of the base plate.

Just in case, you can find film camera manuals for almost everything at butkus.org.
