Is there a list anywhere that sets out the lenses available for Nex (e mount), specifically 3rd party, and those that work natively (no need for adapter, af for example)?
I've looked around various forums. Sony only list their own.

All I've used so far are 3rd party lenses with adapters (Alpa, Leica M etc).
I'd love a good quality auto-focus and my current lens collection is light on wide angle.

I know there are Sigma.
Minolta? Tamron?

They aren't that many af : sigma 19 mm and 30mm , tamron 19-200 manual samyang 8 mm fisheye have native nex e bayonet. Nothing spectacular really.

Tamron 18-200 superzoom, Sigma 19mm and 30mm.

Yep, as far as third party E-mount, that's all I know of and actually own all 3. The zoom is more for video use and the Sigmas are quite fine lenses. They are very sharp.

My main problem with the NEX 5n that I have is the AF speed. All lenses, except for the manual focus adapted ones, are not the speediest. I much prefer to zone focus an M mount lens via Hawk's adapter and fire away at will.

I have researched the Sigma 30mm and it seems to be well above the standard of the similar Sony one which appears to perform relatively poorly considering its a lens with macro capabilities. The Sigma is also inexpensive and I have been tempted to pick one up soon as I find the standard NEX zoom to be a bit ordinary. Like you I mainly use the camera with a legacy lens and adapter but want a good AF lens to supplement it.

Surprisingly, the Wikipedia article on E-mount is all you need to check out :D

Sorry, I had clicked on to that, but missed the little paragraph on 'full electronic control'. Had I seen it I might have wondered how accurate it was. Only three lenses?
But yes, I see it's right, only 3 lenses.
I guess I'll wait and see if anything new comes along from Cosina or Zeiss, or just grab a Sigma 19mm.

I have the Sony 30mm, and can't say that I have any issues with the results it delivers. Overall, most people seem to object to its disappointing specs rather than its poor performance - as the only normal angled Sony E prime at the time of its release, people obviously would have preferred a compact f/2 (or at least f/2.8) normal or a 60mm macro to a huge, short, slow macro.

There are some SLR Magic primes on ebay.

Even Amazon and camera stores have them. They are C-mount lenses with an attached adapter, though. By these criteria, any lens is E-mount, provided that the seller ships it with an adapter...

I dream of native NEX mount Voigtlander manual focus lenses that transmit aperture information to the body...

Until then I have my Sigma 30mm. I may try the newly announced Sony 35mm, but I'm not a huge fan of the 50mm-e FOV.

There are not that many native E-mount lenses, that's right.
But I don't know any other camera whoch is as great for an adaptation of old glass as a NEX.

Small SLR-lenses really rock it: Konica Hexanon 1.8/40, Minolta Rokkor 2/45, Tamron 2.5/24 or 2.5/28, Pentax-M 2.8/28 or 1.7/50 ... just to mention a few.

Of course, rangefinder lenses are even nicer, as long as you keep it to FL longer than 24mm.

And sometimes, you can find the odd, unknown jewel: e.g. the old Tamron 2.8/28 (I've got it in Minolta MD mount). Works great on a NEX!

Well I also own a Panasonic GH1, and have used all my 3rd party lenses on that with great results. I think the choice of Panasonic lenses for G series is wider too. But having said that I'm very happy with my Nex7 and hope to see Sony and 3rd party makers expand the lens choice over the next 12 months. I see 3 new lenses announced this week, and the 10-18mm zoom fits my criteria, although it's about three times more expensive than the Sigma.
