Fwiw an fyi - Rumor about xp2/xe2 availability

I think Ricoh's opportunity for the gxr m module next gen is going to start becoming an issue if they don't do something be end of this year. This would push toward 2plus years w/o an update. If this truly is a m dedicated body, then the window may close altogether unless Fuji did a poor job of implementation... Only just a rumor, only time will tell.. And my speculation about what m means anyway.

If the X-M1 is a Leica M mount fuji, that will be insane.
Would be a very nice combo with the new split image overlay they introduced in the x100s!

^ Right...like an X-E1 with no viewfinder, only tilt-LCD? Boring....

I feel like the "M" in the name signifies more. I mean they already sell their own version of a M-adapter, so why not? We can only hope. haha.

That M in the model number does make you think huh? Honestly though... I feel leica m lenses are best used on leica bodies. I prefer the Fuji AF lenses on the Fuji bodies, so a M mount fuji probably wouldn't do it for me. I know it would be a hit with some though. I just feel the reason to use a M is for the rangefinder / viewfinder combo.

? ?

If the body is M-mount, you would have to use an adapter to fit Fuji lenses onto a Fuji body ? Is that even possible, thinking of flange-to-sensor distances?

Sounds peculiar. Probably I am missing something.

I think people are hoping for a M specific body that wouldn't accept x mount lenses... similar to Ricoh's M module. However, I cannot see Fuji shutting its lenses out of any body it makes... well, unless it is priced accordingly.

Okay, I caught up now.
I always anticipated that Cosina would make a digital M-mount body for, say $800 (APS-C) sensor. The Cosina FF body was going to be (in my dream) $2000 :)

When you think about, there's a market out there for it.

Fantasy= Fuji will release an M mount version of the X-Pro-1
Reality= The New X-Pro-1 comes with digital split image manual focusing and it works with M mount lens with little or no lag.

The alleged Fuji XM-1 is going to be a monochrome only XP-1 using the dual phase detection AF technology to produce a virtual version of the analog RF focus patch.
