FWIW, looking over a few images I took with the M8 the other night (FW 1.09) I, for the first time, noticed the vertical band that was much talked about on LUF. The shot was perfectly exposed but there was a stong light source just off frame. It was very faint but consistant over about six or seven straight exposures. The final converted TIFF's had no EV compensation or adjustments to brightness, and all at ISO1250, so not exactly a torture test. From what I gather this will be fixed in FW 1.10? On a brighter note, the digi noise was very attractive and the new C1 box profiles seem well refined compared to the originals that shipped. I've found already that I've started slipping in M8 shots between shots taken on E6 without a noticable difference. JR's profiles tend to change a few too many colours for my liking, though. A blue shirt turned black on one image! As usual, I'll go on record as saying great product Leica, as long as the filters work well, and only if they work well, though, will I be relying on this thing for important work. My gut feeling (and there's more money riding on this than I care to imagine,) is that it will meet all my needs hands down.

Have you tried up-resing high ISO M8 images with something like Alien Skin Blow Up? I was most suprised, the end result is very much like film grain and not at all unpleasant. There's none of the horizontal patchy streakyness (for want of a better expression) that I've encountered with other camera files at high ISO.

No, but I've heard of this plug in. I might have to look into it when the images are pulled together before publication. Overall, I'm very impressed with this camera and look forward to working it to its limits.

I only noticed the verticle banding on some shots after upgrading to FW 1.09, previously it was strictly horizontal banding. Also, I never go above ISO 640. Strange, but true. I hope the hardware fix does away with this issue.
