g1 45mm lens stuck

My lens is stuck focused at around .5 meters or so and I can't get it to do anything now even when I take it off. Anything I can do or am I ****ed?

Looking at my 45, the only thing I can move on the barrel is the aperture ring.

What happens when you replace it on the camera?

And is your battery still charge? Oops, I see Mike got that one.

The first thing is to check the battery and try a fresh battery.

Next, clean the contacts on the lens and body.

After that, I'm not sure.

You have another lens? Does that work all right with your camera?
You know whether this is a camera or a lens problem?

If you take the lens off the camera, you can take a small screw driver and move the lens to a different distance. You could try this to see whether the mechanics of the lens is stiff. Also, if you move it a bit it might free up.

But I am a bit out of my depth here.

Ok so I got the lens back to infinity but now it still won't focus or even fire when its on the camera. I think the little thing that spins the lens to make it focus (the part on the camera) might not be lined up with the lens correctly?

A proper working camera will align itself with the lens in any position. So that is not the issue. Sounds like an electric problem, either the in lens chip or the camera. A trip to a repair shop? I would contact them and ask whether they still work on them before sending anything.

I recently had a similar problem. The motor that moves the lenses into focus got weak to the point that it had to be replaced. ToCAd charges a standard fee of $175 to fix G2, including the return shipping.

Don't know. Could still be that e.g. the ROM in the lens is fried.
