Gallery Picks is an opportunity for you to post a heads up to what you have seen during the past seven days at RFF that you like.
There's no membership requirement, no criteria (except past seven days), no voting, no limit to the number of photos mentioned, and everybody mentioned is a winner.

Anybody can start the thread on a Monday.

Anybody can join in, it's a community event!

My first pic of the week is...

Mudride's - En kall svensk vinter

Enkallsvenskvinter1.jpg

It's snowing here, bloomin' freezing and I have a nasty cold so I'm going to head out with my camera and see if I can't find something to photograph. I'll post more of my picks later so over to you guys...

MIkhail ... An engaging image of children creating a social scene and I have to wonder what the little girl on the left is doing and why she's not part of it.

Sunday morning I woke up to find Olivier's nice series of well composed images and decided
to drop some indoor plans and go out in the snow and do some composition exercises

I like especially the repetition of the railing´s form by the light area on the right. The greytones are very good too.

I like the reflection in the water and the surprising effect of the apparently mirrored railing.

BAd conditions that make a very good picture. The moment could not be more decisive;-)

A great series of which I like this most, maybe because it reminds me of the urban classics of Brassai or Kertesz (or Appell by Otto Steinert)

The contrast between the actors couldn´t be bigger. One day you´ll have to tell your grandson about the angry man in his baby photo.

A great eye for unusual scenes in everyday life and careful compositions!

My selection:

Dave S. : I really like the eyes of a child through the overlap of the frame. Beautiful tones too.

semrich: chance or not, the double image is really interesting

almost too many to post this week, but here's a start:

very pretty view of a supplicant (and his baseball cap) before a diety. I love the composition and the shininess of the floor.

something about the lizard sculpture on the wall catches me here

great image. you can feel the heat in the sun and the coolness of the pavement in the shade. very nicely done. that intense over-exposure towards the middle of the frame really gives one a clear idea why the kids in the background are wilting from the heat.

a great series of foggy light

a lot going on within this frame. the sign on the awning suggests one life, but the rest of the frame suggests more than one life

I like the light, grain and steam in this image

abstracted so nicely that the snow drifts on the far bank could be mountains (even though we know from the grass on the near bank that they're only a few inches high). lovely tonal gradations, too.

Keith's "slice of life" double exposure almost looks as if we are seeing through a wall intruding on someone's private space.

BobKatz
nicely done figure study. what is she saying with her crossed feet? she's sharing a great deal of herself with us, but does she, ultimately, trust us?
