I bought a 39mm Heavystar vented hood off of E-bay for under $10 to use on my VC 35mm.

Try using a Leica rectangular hood (no 12524) I have one glued onto a BW filter and it works very well - Mine has a UV in it but you can remove the glass if you dont like it. (The hood is for the 35 summicron)
