Purchased a Toyo 45D monorail with a Schneider Symmar 210mm 5.6 lens with two film holders shutter release cable extra lens board and bellows also a case off Ebay for $450.00. Will keep you all posted as to my progress in the LF field. Want to thank everyone for all the advice and feedback. Big thank you to X-ray for the PM advice.

Chris

Have you taken any photos with your new 4x5 yet? How do you like it?

Yes I have taken four so far and have tray processed them, and they came out nice. Going to shot some more this weekend. Really like the whole process with LF, just need to learn more about the camera as there is so much you can do with it.

Chris

Chris that's great to hear everything came out great.

Just keep working at it. Shooting LF is really a joy.

If you've not you might check out the large format forum. There are some excellent photographers there and super skilled in alternative processes like carbon printing.

Have fun!

Glad to hear it! When you get a chance, you might share one or two?

Get a scanner soon so you can properly assess the negatives for contrast and evenness of development.

Printing them would be even better.

Little trays (dollar store) small bottle of paper developer and 5x7 RC paper.
Costs next to nothing.

If you haven't used that paper, be prepared for some very contrasty prints, I never found the subject to photograph that took advantage of it's qualities. Peter

Regular RC paper also works as ISO5-10 negative in the 4x5 cartridge, size to fit is available very cheap.

Link to the 2040x2800 scan.

If I get a scanner that only comes with a 35mm and 120 negative carriers can I just lay the 4x5 negative on the glass a scan the negative? Don't want to spend $800.00 on a scanner and I have 12 negatives so far. Just a thought.

Chris

If the film scanning light in the cover is wide enough to cover a 4x5", then you can!

I purchased a Umax Powerlook 1000 cheap the other day, it can do negatives up to 8x12"! If you can find one of those cheap, you'll be set!

Just to give an update I just purchased an enlarger capability up to 4x5. I will be wet printing my nagatives. Thanks to all for insight and advice
