Getting used to my Hexar RF

I hadn't shot a RF in about a year, and the last time i did was when i was trying out a Bessa R3M. Let's just say me and the 1:1 finder didn't jive as well as i am w/ the Hexar's...

I recently picked this camera up for a steal from another forum member, as he just wasn't using it as much as his M6 and R4(a or m, i can't recall), and i promptly grabbed the 40 M-Rokkor (CLE) to go with it.

Right now i'm trying to decide my next lens- either 25/4P or 35/1.2 Nokton... or BOTH!
anyways- here are some shots from teh last few weeks- All on Fuji Xtra C41, from ISO 100 to 800. Scanned at the minilab.

Please let me know what you think- i think i'm FINALLY starting to see/shoot more comfortably with the RF, as i've grown up on SLR's!

Got some nice shots there Chris. Irecently got a Minolta CLE with the 40mm Rokkor and I've added the CV 25/4P lens. Shot my first roll with the 25 today. Crappy weather and really just fired off the shots to check the metering on the camera as I wasn't too pleased with the first couple of rolls. Looks like the labs were more at fault than the camera as the results came back today looking fine. Wish the quality of my pix were as good as yours. maybe I need to try a new lab. BTW the 25mm CV lens is nice and sharp. Got mine from Cameraquest.

Great stuff, and Both Hexar Rf and Rokkor are great combo. I'd go for a 25p - it's good with Hexar's Viewfinder and a great lens. I have this set up well, I have rokkor and 25p and both work well on Hexar. As far as 35/1.2 - I never used it, but I hear that its a great lens. Big and pricey, but very nice. However, I'd get it for M6 or something but not for a Hexar as it maybe difficult to focus it correctly wide open on Hexar. Plus since you got 40mm lens - do you really need 35mm one?
I'd go for a 25p.

i used the same setup for a while while playing around with 50mm and 35mm lenses. I'd say keep the 40, get a 28 and a 75 and u're sorted. The brilliance of the .6x viewfinder is that u can just about estimate 25mm angle using the whole viewfinder. I'd reccommend the 25 f4 if not for that its F4 and a bit slow.

I personally now use the 40, 28 1.9, 85 f2 nikkor. Going to be getting a 90 summicron soon though so one will have to go.

with an ebl of 41.1mm, the hexar rf should have no problem focusing the 35/1.2. note that the 50/1 noctilux only needs 25mm.

I found that a 25 worked very fine on the Hexar RF. The viewfinder is wide enough to covers about that field of view, so you don't even really need to use the accessory finder..

Nice pictures Chris, congrats with your Hexar. The second image looks like some kind of laser or TV quided air-to-ground missle at the lab tests, I hope this is not of the kind that should be shown in public....😉

Perhaps not maverick (thuogh I may not remember correctly), but IMHO, more looks like some kind of guided AGM, then AAM....xmm

haha yeah, it's an AGM-65 G, an IR-Guided Maverick.

I'm in the Air Force, and i work w/ munitions.

Yeah, I see, at least I was on regarding AGM...😉.
I used to serve in Air Force as ground crew weapons system tech. in F16 squadron, though we dealt with other types of AAM/AGMs...

I've recently bought a Hexar (still running my first film through it). I started a 40mm Rokkor (lent to me by Kuvvy), but I've just bought a CV 50mm colour Skopar over the weekend. I tried it against a few other lenses but I liked both the price and the controls of the Skopar best - I like using a focussing tab and the one on the skopar is well positioned for me and the apeture selectionring is very handy for quick adjustment with one finger.

I've also just bought the CV 35mm Pankace lens fron RFF user Roundg. I was attracted to this one as the 35mm suits the viewfinder nicely and makes the Hexar quite a pocketable camera. Which means I'm more likely to carry it around and get more shots.

I do fancy something with a much wider aperture but I just don't know what size of lens I'd pick at the moment. I'm leaning towards something like the 35mm Nokton.

I'll post up the results as soon as I finish the film 🙂
