The Oakland Museum does a huge indoor garage sale every year. There is usually lots of photo gear for good prices. I always leave with 2 or 3 boxes full of photo gear I couldn't quite pass up on.

The White Elephant Preview Sale is Sunday, January 28 from 11:00 AM to 4 PM. Tickets are $12.50 in advance; $15 at the door. To order tickets by mail, send $12.50 per ticket to White Elephant Preview Sale, P.O. Box 11605, Oakland, CA 94611. Make the check or money order payable to W.E.S. Preview. Please do NOT send cash. Include a stamped, self addressed envelope.

Hours for the 2007 White Elephant Sale are Saturday, March 3, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sunday, March 4, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. There is no admission fee for the March sale dates. For recorded information, call 510/536-6800. Payment accepted: VISA or MC credit and debit cards, check w/ID, and cash.

Great stuff Ray. This is my 3rd year. I love finding filters, lens caps, and other like items for a quarter each. Lots of enlargers & other dark room gear. $5 for a hard case. Some fixed lens rf's, SLR's and a folder or two.

Oh, I gotta make this, too. I'll put it on my calendar.

thanks for the heads up. perhaps we can all go together and fight over stuff :)

I just bought some dark room gear, nothing that interesting. The only really interesting thing I found was a large box of all kinds of film most of it now discontinued. I payed less then 25 cents a roll for some old Ilford, Agfa, and Kodak film.
They had a Minolta 7S and some Canon QL's, etc. all were fixed lens. I did find some great older books about individual photographers like Bob Natkin, Latin Am. photogs., Lange, Abbot, Arbus, Kertész, Wegman all for $3 each.
