Here's a couple from my 1st roll with my GS I just got back from the Yashica Spa. You guessed it. G'man is THE man when working over these babys. I took one of these pics from the cab of my Kenworth. I did a little color correction to comp for the sodium lights and cropped down to pano size for effect. The second is in a dimly lit bar, handheld with 400 speed film. I had to add one more. This camera is excellent at getting the exposure right. I'm astonished.

I'll try to post two photos. Last time the quality was not good. If they look mushy, pretend they look very sharp. 😉

I took these with my Yashica GT that the G'man repaired beautifully. Every single exposure, inside and out, was dead-on accurate.

First images from my Electro Professional. I've never figured out why they are called "professional" other than they are black. The top ASA rating is 500, unlike the GSN which has 1000 as it's fastest ASA.

The glass on this camera is also a smaller diameter than my GSN. The specs are the same 45mm with f1.7 at it's widest.

These were shot with Kodak BW400CN.

after looking at your first few photos, i thought to myself, "where does this guy live? Japan?". Then I saw that you're in Vancouver. Now that totally makes sense...

I don't know what it is, and I can't explain it, but your photos have a 70s feel. It might just be me....

Hi I got a Yashica GSN which my Dad used earlier, and the pics I've attached are taken fron the first roll I shot with this camera. It was Kodak Max 400 though I've heard really bad things about this roll. Before this I've only used Kodak Focus free cameras and am totally in love with the Yashica. It works fine but without the battery, the auto exposure thing doesn't work.

Also I noticed that in some of the pics where I used the hood, black edges can be seen in the corners. I used the metal hood that was there with the camera. Also while using Tele or Wide lens do you need to adjust the focus after fixing the lens to some other length than what you focus through the viewfinder? I'm a total newbie to photography and may not even know the most basic terms, so kindly excuse me for any confusion.

Would appreciate if anyone can share some information on that.

Yeah the cherry blossom scene is pretty impressive here in Vancouver, B.C.... and shooting flowers and trees is something new and challenging for me too, so in the past month I've spent a lot of time in gardens and parks and cherry blossom hot spots.

Okay, I finally shot some film with my GSN. It was a little overcast, but I felt the urge and shot intuitively. I'm very pleased with how this camera works.

well, if you're referring to my three, than the film is Kodak BW400CN.
I set the camera at asa 400.
I've had good experiences with that film though I'm not sure how much I'll be using it since I can always desaturate in Photoshop...

This is one of the shots from the first roll through the Electro 35 GS I got last Saturday. The film is the Kodak C-41 asa 400 B&W film. I have shot this type of film in my Leica at the same location and previously did not get such raspy almost blown out results. I'm shooting another roll this week to see if it was a fluke or if the metering in the camera is out of kilter.

I just got an Electro 35 GSN today and I guess I got lucky as the description on eBay actually fits the camera and it works. I'll have to change the foam, but that's about it. I shot my first roll of film this morning (Kodak BW400CN) and ran it over to get processed immediately claiming to my boss that I had to make sure it worked and all. He just smiled bemusedly.

The shot is garbage, but I still like the composition.

I had to scan a print at work with a really nasty scanner we have laying around so what's there is there, what's not is lost. The print wasn't half bad (the wall has texture) but I'm not much for 1 hour printing. I'm not complaining though, the camera worked nicely.

Now I've got a roll of Ilford XP2 in the camera and am interested to see how that compares to the Kodak.

I believe this is my first rangefinder. I used to shoot B&W with an old Minolta SLR and soup and print my own, but that was years ago. I gave up for a while and then came back with a Nikon dSLR, but I really missed film...so here I am.

Granted the one I posted I thought was one of the better ones.

I think I see what you are talking about. From my screen it doesn't seem to be a focus or exposure issue. Since it's C41 it is lab processed. I'm kind suspicious of the processing from the lab. Still time will tell. Anything look physically out of order on the lens?

The lens appears perfectly clean and in alignment. I got the same results from a roll of Kodak asa 200 color shot the same day in a different camera and processed at the same time as the B&W.

Here's one from the color roll. It was an interesting situation. A group calling itself the "Border Guardians" set fire to a Mexican flag in front of the Mexican Consulate in Tucson Sunday as a protest of the illegal immigration situation . While I am a member of the Minutemen and I am for better security at the border I thought this stunt was stupid beyond belief and could only draw negative results. It did. The same guy did it again on Monday and was arrested for a number of charges.

I have shot this same type of film from the same batch and gotten much better results.....from the same Walgreens no less.

Looking at the first shot it also has the similar qualities of the second BW. I have a feeling that the scan you have got or the processing at Walgreens may be the issue.

I recall a thread a while back on C41 processing and a few people railing about the training of the operators of the lab equipment. Might want to take the film to another lab or Walgreens and see what happens.

BTW I guess the ‘flag burner’ doesn’t intend to go into Mexico anytime soon.. LaL!

Thank you, I had to wait through 45 minutes of dreary inarticulate blithering from the "speakers" for the group and stomp on a few tv news types to get and keep my camera position but I did get the shots I came for that day.


I got a new roll of C-41 B&W back from processing shot with the Yashica and I'm pretty sure it was the Walgreens on that particular day that was the problem. This time I used a Walgreens 1 hour near work and they processed the film okay....but scratched the sh** out of one of the two negs I thought were keepers.

Sigh...

I had to ps the sunset shot a lot to get the scratches out. The other was okay. A positive note though. I found and old Topcor lens shade that fits the Yashica and I wasn't sure if it was the right size. Aparently it is okay as I see no problems at the corners of the full frame. The lower portion of the never ready case is also from the Topcon.
