I am back in Paris
The weather is glorious the light is amazing.
As someone noted earlier - the women are stunning

I'm traveling with the MP and 35mm Biogon 2.0 in the trusty bare bones bag
Black and white only
I'm here with a couple running buddies. Tomorrow is the Paris Marathon.

The food is great, the prices high, Paris is awesome

I'm planning on trying the "I am a tourist, are you French? Can I take your picture?" method to get some more personal shots this week

The other line I am practicing is,"my psychiatrist told me to take pictures of people to get over my shyness , do you mind ?"

If these don't work I'll try, "do you mind if I take a picture?"

The MP is great, although I did tear a leader today on loading, removed it and will trim it later

Have a falafel for me.

The place across the alley from L'As du Falafel seems to be just as good. My wife likes it because they don't routinely use eggplant. Have fun and I look forward seeing the photos.
 
I take a range of cameras one of them being an old Konica Dimage 5mp P&S which will always be in my pocket. I'll have a Bessa R4A and 25mm and 35 lenses. I even take the Hasselblad when my legs can handle the extra weight. At any one time one camera, one lens. Paris is indeed a great place to just wander. Soak it up.

Thanks for bringing this thread back, some really good photos I don't mind looking at again. The kids with video games is a favourite. I guess I won't be going to Paris this year, but perhaps again in 2012.

Nice to see the revival of an old thread. I posted a thread wondering what equipment to take.

I just got back from Paris last night. I brought a Contax T3, Tri-X, and 100ISO color slide film. Out of that, I shot one roll of slide...the rest, b&w with the T3's Zeiss Sonnar 35/2.8.

I didn't feel limited by the 35mm focal length, walked all day with my "equipment" and didn't get tired, and felt invisible with such a compact camera (the size of my iPhone, but a bit thicker).

And I didn't feel silly sitting at a sidewalk cafe sipping coffee in the shade of the Eiffel Tower with a bag full of cameras and glass.

Hi, I have a day to spend on fun in Paris, it appears Magnum has a gallery but I called and (with my rusty French) found out that there are no exhibitions..

Is there perhaps an 'permanent' Magnum gallery in Paris? The address I have is
19 Rue Hégésippe Moreau, 75018 Paris.

Very True. For Paris in particular, and France in general, a wide angle is your "don't leave home without it" lens. My most used lenses there are 25/28mm and 35mm. I think I took one shot with the 50. OK, maybe two.
 
Whatever you do, don't travel with a coworker who is utterly uninterested in photography. I wish I had the opportunity wander when I went. Alas, only two days there.
 
Enjoy your visit to my favorite city in the world. I tend to shoot an M with a 50mm and have a Ricoh GR in the pocket (28mm). Works for me after a fair amount of trial and error there.
