Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Picking up the story...my test roll came out with no capping, so it appears CameraTechs did do some work on the camera. I'm going to shoot another, more deliberate roll before making up my mind about the quality of the work. This body is a much higher serial than my older P and very mint, so some of the stiffness/shutter noise may be from simple lack of use. Clearly, though, Mark Hama has a much higher skill set for this camera, if you can get his attention.

Youxin did an excellent job with a curtain replacement and CLA on my Canon IVsb. Very quick turnaround and a very fair price. Camera functions are smooth as "buttah" now and I prefer the VF/RF to that on my Leica IIIf.

I ended up sending a Canon P body to CameraTechs. I just got it back today and as far as I can tell it hasn't been touched at all. Same gritty release, same LOUD shutter (I have another body, CLA'd by Mark Hama five years ago, that is smooth and nearly silent). I will shoot a test roll and if the shutter is still capping I'm going ballistic. I seriously don't believe anything was done to the camera, they just sent it back in a new plastic bag.

Stay tuned.

I have had great luck with Camera Techs...reasonable rates and fast turn around. They have serviced my Leicas and a Canon 7 that was brought back from the dead. No complaints. They also carry a good stock of used equipment...worth a visit if you're in Seattle/Ballard.
