Good for a laugh

Yo no soy no pajaro gordo, pero conduzco un pajero 🙂

Hm, I should spend more time with my spanish books instead of posting here, it's about time too since we'll plan a weekend shooting in Barcelona coming september.

Recently I saw a Kneb going on ebay - actually I would love to have a camera called a 'kneb' - sounds exotic! However any Lomo LCA fans would be shooting homos so maybe we shouldn't go there....

Incidentally some soviets find the western craze for Lomos particularly amusing since they are very close to the word 'lomat'; the Russian verb for 'to break' 😀

And young ones, that about computers, find "Lomography" also very funny, because, the word "[lo:mo:]" is their slangy analogue for the "[La:mer]"(complete idiot in computers, and only in them) and "Lomography" sounds for them, and for me also as "Idiot-graphy". It's hard to understand though... But it's a fact.

The price of Lomo-compact (and not only it's price) raises from day to day because of its popularity in Europe. And now even old LC-A, bought someday for 1-2$, are sold for 70-80$ 🙂)) 😀

It was funny enough to ask for a Hoegaarden beer in US. When we said it third time, and the waitress still didn't get what the hell we are talking about, we pointed to the name on the menu. Ah, Howgardin, sorry! she says.

It is also difficult for some people in Russia to ask for that beer, because the beginning of word (Hoe) is pronounced by most people like the most dirty russian word [huy, i.e. penis], and they are very ashamed by that fact, and trying to pronounce it other ways, sometimes funny to watch them... 😀
The waiters found a solution for that and call it just "Garden" 😀

Back in the early '60s Pontiac introduced the Grand Prix automobile. One day soon after it was introduced a bellboy walked into the middle of a hotel lobby where I was attending a meeting and annouced at the top of his voice "Whoever double parked their GRAND PRICK out front needs to move it!"

FSU sellers are good at listing important info on cameras but U.S. sellers invariably don't list the serial numbers of FSU gear--important because it can tell a collector if the lens was original to that camera and, in some cases, the year of manufacture.

I once got a job teaching at a small college in downstate Illinois. I'm a Californian and consequently knew nothing of the area or its customs.

After the first day's classes I ambled into a bar on the town square. I ordered a scotch on the rocks. A college girl came in, sat down next to me and ordered a Griesedeck, a local beer. As it's pronounced "greasy-dick," you can imagine my confusion.
