Can anybody tell me if Gordy Writs Straps yank out the strap lugs? It was posted on the other site it rips out strap lugs that must be re-drilled and pressure mounted.

I haven't heard of it happening.

I've had the strap on this camera for over a year now with no problems

Hi Andy, I have one on my M3 never a problem. I would not want to dangle it around all day just hanging by the strap, I hold the camera in my hand with the strap around my wrist.

my strap has been on a M4, M2 and currently the M6-TTL. It's the best wrist strap there is.

Mine is on my M3 right now , i dont typically carry it by the wrist strap only its more of a failsafe. I cant imagine the strap lug ripping out though

One of the strap lugs is more worn than the other one on my M3. I guess it was worn down by a previous wrist strap. After all its use it doesn't seem to have an impact on the lugs of the body. Still very solid. When I got ahold of it I put a wrist strap allowing me to hold it with my left hand, which also happen to be the less worn side.

I guess the issue is not the brand of wrist strap, but the strength of the strap lugs in handing the weight of the camera, if only one is used rather than two, as in using a neck strap.

It has been claimed that later Leica models have revised manufacturing methods for attaching the strap lug to the camera body, making them less sturdy than the earlier models. However, you are not meant to grab the strap and use the camera for hammer-throwing practice to start with, so it should not be really an issue if used properly.

As I manufacture my own brand of wrist straps, and have been using them for extended periods, I never find that it puts undue demand on the strap lugs at all.
