well, i finally broke down and ordered a bridge grip for one of the rd1 bodies.
it arrived today after a lengthy trip from korea.
and it is beautiful, fits perfectly onto the body and best of all, i can change batteries without having to remove it!
now i wish i had ordered 2...

IMHO the only thing they are missing is an extra camera strap lug on the lower right side. I loved the Bessa winder for that. I could hang a body over the shoulder and have it in the perfect position for a quick draw. But that is me.

That's a very nice looking grip, I think I'll be getting one for my RD1s. Did you have any problems or issues with the shipper? And how long did it take to get to you?

no real problems but shipping took a while, almost 3 weeks from hong kong.
i have had other parcels take only 7 days from h.k.
but it comes in a very sturdy box with stiff foam so it was quite protected.

went out for my first outing with the grip and it's wonderful, fits my hand well.

Did you consider the Voigtlander side grip? It fits the Bessa R3, I can´t quite see why it would not fit the R-D1. Fired off a request to Stephen and Cameraquest, awaiting reply. at 40ish odd dollars, it might not be a bad deal. Not as flashy as the Bridge grip though, can´t wait to see pics of the red one on your camera.
