Occasionally I read comments about people scraping together pennies, unloading some gear to be able to afford a piece of gear, or finally finding that lens they've been searching for after two years.

If you got to have it, you got to have it.

What piece of gear lead you on a path of attainment, regardless of price tag and/or availability? Why?

Do you have it still? Sold it?
or is the quest still in progress.

Leica M9... sold a bunch of stuff to get it, used it one year, sold it. I was never comfortable with the price of it.

I saved for a Konica RF. Literally put my pennies into a piggy bank. I wanted a top of the line rangefinder, but not at Leica prices. I am trying to sell it now to pay for my family`s move to Canada from Japan.

Nikon F6 for me. Always wanted one but was put off by the prices then one came along courtesy of jonmanjiro in Japan who spotted an immaculate example in a camera store and was good enough to purchase it and send it on to me here in Oz.

I don't use it a lot but the camera is definitely all I expected it to be and more ... probably the finest SLR ever made.

moneywise not a big deal, still the decision took 30 years. now finally i got my rollei 35. wonder why it took me so long.
