GR is synonymous with the snap feature at this point... it would be like removing the 28mm!

If it turns out to be $800 then that's a good thing. Again, we'll have to wait for the actual announcement and to see how the sensor performs - we all know the ergonomics are second to none. 🙂

By the sounds of it, should be a real looker of a camera.
By the same token, I probably won't buy it until it falls in value quite alot, like the previous GRD's 😉 I never had any grudges with those.

After ***-pooing all of the other digital compacts on various other threads, a Ricoh GR with an APS sensor should be the one best chance at getting a really usable, useful compact. I loved the interface of the small sensor GRs, it was only the little sensor that was holding that camera back from being a favorite.
It would be nice if they sealed them better, they do tend to get dusty but that may have more to do with them being used a lot and shoved into linty pockets rather than a Ricoh design flaw.

Pretty much the same as the other digital versions of the GR...
They've picked up on Fuji's red lettering scheme, S and now GR, makes it a real looker 😉

The sensor on the GRD IV model is actually decent.
I think it's handicapped by the processing engine.
Speaking of sensors, Ricoh would be crazy not to use the sensor that is in Pentax DSLRs.

I understand, I've used it. But we are talking about an APS-C sensor vs. a 1/1.7 sensor. It's rumored to be from the Pentax K-5II DSLR which the Pentax fanboys seem to love.

It's the Sony one after all.
At least now we have usable ISO 3200 instead of a smudgy 400, and much thinner DoF.
I will miss the 1cm macro of the small sensor cameras though..

Well, just for the record, I shoot 90% of my shots on the GRDI at 400 ISO with NR turned off. They are definitely not smudgy! I really like the gritty look it turns out.

With a fixed FL a relatively inexpensive ($150) optical VF on the hotshoe should be readily available.

I've yet to own a Ricoh camera. How might this camera compare to the X100s? I understand that it is smaller, retractable lens, no EVF and no OVF. It most likely shares the Sony 16mpix pdaf sensor. I'm still on the fence with regards to the X100s and I'm getting from these posts that Ricoh puts some magic into their cameras. I'm just not sure what that might be. This camera looks much like a digital version of the Contax T series.

My only saving grace from gas and bankruptcy so far.... These are not fov between 38 and 40... Whether we are talking rx1, Coolpix A or gr v...
Didn't Ricoh do a 21 in the past... If they do a 21 in gr my gas may kick in...
