I dont quite know if it is right to start a thread on another photographers pictures, but i suppose it should just be extra PR and then fine.

I was browsing the net for ideas, and came across a great B&W portofolio that I just want to discuss:

I really, really like the style - and I also wonder how many hours of just walking and looking for these surreal moments that is necessary...

I suppose his pictures are ´street´photography, but it doesnt matter. Crosses more over into the surreal one might say...

I like the work but halfway through the portfolio I found myself looking for the 'hook' in each photo. It's an interesting style but for some reason I didn't have the desire to go through the whole lot.

Thanks for the link! :)

My supposition is that perhaps many are truely "found photographs" but a lot of them appear to be the result of people being asked to move over a bit or look in a certain direction.

I enjoyed looking though the work. Very interesting stuff, as some raised the question that most of his work seems to be found other are questionable. I guess it just adds a bit of mystery to the work a good thing it keeps people thinking. Does anyone know if the photographer has talked about setting up any of the photos? The commission work I can totally see as being set up, but the personal work who knows.... Its fun and interesting none the less nice to see.

Well - that is the eternal question with photography like this... In one way it doesnt matter - as long as the image is what it is, but it does say something about the amount of work that goes into it...

Its the old HCB-discussion, dont know if I want to go there :)

I completely agree. It became frustrating when I couldn't find it. The ones that have a "hook" then cease to be a puzzle and it's time to move on. I guess I like images with a bit more staying power, and less of a chuckle and flip the page style. Maybe if it was divided into more specific sets I could enjoy it more.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's excellent photography.

There's no denying that he's a great photographer it's just that when I look through his photos I feel as if I'm being pre-conditioned by his vision to look for a certain element in the work.

I keep worrying that eventually I will come across a tree growing out of the top of someone's head! :p
