Great shoes for photography...

GAS or SAS?
robert
PS: my wife, SAS 😀

Robert,

Take your wife to DSW when you get to NYC where they blow out overstock on shoes. I usually get some great deals there. I'm not a woman, but I got lots of shoes because of the great deals.

My gal is a bit of a fashionista and she goes nuts over the vintage stores and gets into those crazy luxury brands. Check out these stores called "Ina."

Also check out this new store called "Dover Street Market" that opened a few months ago. Your wife will love you more. If you play things right you can kinda get a get out of jail card that never expires if you spoil your wife on the upcoming trip.

Red Wings here.

Thinking of grabbing a pair of Irish Setters this spring.
My Tuff-Toe RW's are getting a bit flat after 5 years.

In the summer you might catch me in a pair of Sperry Topsiders.

Rockport World Tour Classic are so comfortable and light. I've bought these again and again the last ten years or so. I got a pair of Ecco's as well recently and they're comfortable from day one, I can attest to that as well.
For rough terrain, rainy and/or freezing wetter I have a pair of Meindl boots - I don't use them alot (they're close to 1 kilo the pair) but I have them since 2005, and they're invaluable as far as I'm concerned.

Dan,
I am sorry, but these shoes really look like crap.

LOL -- they're not civilian pretty. But I find them comfortable and I think they'll make those 5 plus hour walks less painful during and later. There certainly are some great shoe choices on this thread. I have a feeling I'll be buying at least on of these. And Cal, love his posts -- first I learn his cameras are weapons (especially Punky), now I learn his shoes are too -- he's the McGiver of defensive/offensive photography. I had a pair of Fryes in the late 70's -- man those things were heavy and hurt.

On my last trip east, the soles separated from my hiking boots, so as a stopgap, I bought a pair of those $9 knockoff Keds from Urban Outfitters. Despite the snow subsiding in Philadelphia, they only lasted about 4 days before they fell apart while I was still wearing them. Conveniently, I was in front of the UO at Faneuil Hall in Boston, and snapped up a a pair of cheap knockoff Clarks there. I changed them out in front of the statue of Red Auerbach while some foreign tourists were snapping photos. So now somewhere in the world there's a photo of me, barefoot and confused in the snow, in someone's photo album.

Dan,
I am sorry, but these shoes really look like crap.
I tend to buy new Balance 574, throw away the rubber insert, and replace it with a leather and cork insole. For cold weather I keep a pair of Mephistos

and for the summer the best are Birkenstock Milano

You're right. Besides Arizonas, I wear Milanos for more formal occasions.

I don't know anything about cold weather.
