My first post; so as should be: Greetings to you all. I have been reading (enjoying) this forum for some time and so have now taken the plunge. My RF knowledge is limited, my enthusiasm endless; so I hope you'll bare with me if I ask a real 'Wally' of a question or one that‘s already been asked. My thanks to one and all.

First selection of 'Wally's' Tura 400? Is it any good? Is it ‘Agfa?’ Why is it so cheap? 75-110p over here when you can find it! Anyone know if Retro still have any or where I can lay my paws on some in the UK. Need to feed my R2. Cheers. B.

Brian, thanks for the gallery look and comments! Thornwood is an old estate that deteriorated and was essentially abandoned for a while, now taken over and renovated by a family for use as a "bed & breakfast". There's a nice semi-formal dinner with mystery-story entertainment. Used for weddings too. Nice setting on a small lake.

Seagulls shots are from the front of the house where I grew up on Puget Sound west of Seattle. It was a sunset in late March, with some definitely moody weather! Icy driving was foggy as well as icy, just cresting the ridge before dropping down into the valley where I live now, so this one is closest to home... except for the mannikin of unusual posture which is only 4 blocks away. 🙂

Sorry that I have no experience or knowledge to share on the Tura 400 film. For b&w film I most often use Ilford's XP-2 Super.

Hi Chris, love the head band! And being silly is one serious pursuit!
Pic 05/05 some composition! The ramp keeps drawing your eye up to the flaking paint. Blew it up on my CTX 21 inch cathode-Ray-GUN and detail is incredible! Nice one! One real nice looking lady sitting next to you; say hi from me.

Hi Ray; Reflections (big one) is fantastic! Had to look twice as I thought I was looking into a pool. Neat composition (Under the Bridge) gives one the sense/feeling of immense power oozing from the structure. Found item…love it! Wonderful use of simplicity put to great effect.

Hi Doug: Must have been real nice to grow up with such a view on your doorstep. Where I grew up, if you walked out your front door you walked into the guys house opposite! Yeah, that’s London for you!

Recently, I have been using my Canonet QL17 (new version) and my GSN the most, though before I discovered rangefinders I was fanatical about my EOS 1VHS

2 questions….. What camera/s you guys use most. And….er….what’s a ….BUMP?

Hi-- In RFF, discussion threads are listed in chronological order of the most recent post, so if one posts a contribution primarily for the purpose of "bumping" the thread to the top of the list, that's, well, a "bump"!

Icy Driving was a late-afternoon winter's return home along the interstate freeway from a nearby city. I got to thinking it might be interesting to put the Bronica RF645 on the dashboard and snap a few shots, as I was intrigued by the vehicle lights through the thin fog and reflecting off the icy roadway.

So, the final question's answer includes that Bronica, really an excellent all-round camera, and a Fuji GA645Wi as well. In 35mm favorites are Minolta CLE and Contax G2.

Welcome Shadesofgray. Loved London the many times I visited. Also think you have some of the best comedy on TV and I have the complete "Young Ones" on DVD. Still chuckle over "The Black Adder" and a bunch of other shows.

Sorry I can't tell you anything about Tura film. For Agfa, I buy Greenwalds' (a Chemists) brand film. I like the 200 speed but last time I bought I got 400 speed because it was cheaper on sale.

Thanks guys…Have a ‘BUMP’ on me. 😛 Understand the fascination for the EOS Chris: I love my F5 but it don’t go out as much now as it use to. Don’t seem to get gawked at as much with the R2. An RF645 on a dashboard…brave man! 😱 Looks a little dodgy out there Doug.

Comedy! Ah yes; we do have a few clowns over hear. Talking of clowns: I hear there’s a new sit-com on its way called….The Blairs at number 10! Can’t think what it could be about? Puppetry? 😉 Fawlty Towers is one of the greats; have you seen any? I loved Cheers and Sex in the City was brilliant! So was Hill Street Blues; not meant to be a comedy but it did have its moments. Wonder who makes Greenwalds film? Agfa…Tura? Here we go again! I’m all for cheap film; that’s why I’ve been trying to lay my hands on Tura. Have to praise them for their customer service as, Maja Kuhnt, of Tura AG has been really helpful.

Thanks for the links. What is Tura film was real interesting. After all this time we’re (as in me) still asking who makes it. I bet Roger Hicks would know (see Shutterbug Feb 2004). Personally I don’t care who makes what as long as it’s cheap and up to the job. If I were a pro then I’d be of a different view I’m sure, but, as I’m not ( I’m c**p actually) I’ll use whatever I can to get the results I’m after. Hey! I once used Orwo! 🙁 I’ve always liked Ilford as in HP5/+ but a few years ago I drifted towards Delta 400; now I’m using Neopan 400. Three completely different (old/new semi-new technology films) and I love them all; only: I can get Neopan for £1.76- £1.79 a roll compared to…ouch, that smarts for the others. Some people over here have the audacity to charge £3.59p for Delta 400. :bang:
