i should have mentioned that - yes, plastic. i understand there is such a thing as 3d metal printing, but i have no idea if that's commonly available, or affordable.

Late, late post - I'm surprised no one has shown the "Mr Zhou" half-case.
It comes standard with the grip on the front, and a thumb rest on the back.
You can see mine here:

My CL now handles and carries perfectly in it... and no tripod screws to (ahem) screw with.

As of writing, I'm currently getting one of these made!!! 3D Printing is opening up a lot of possibilities for our old fancy-pants cameras.
this is a long dead thread but i thought i'd share a leica cl grip i found on the internet, which someone designed to be printed with a 3D printer. i downloaded the file, uploaded it to one of the 3d printer services, then ordered - iirc it cost about $8 for the grip, plus a few dollars shipping. i received the grip only a few days later, and it fits really well, weighs almost nothing, but seems sturdy. i added a tripod d ring screw from amazon and it attaches securely. imo it doesn't add materially to the overall size and weight, but ymmv. 3d printing is like magic.![]()
model file here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:597022
i ordered it through this site, but there are many other 3d printing sites: https://www.treatstock.com/

that looks pretty good and you can't beat 8 bucks for a custom made grip.

Hello
What length is the D ring screw you used for this grip? In mm, Amazon has various lengths, commonest seems to be 10mm

I would try the Flipbac stick-on grips--
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/913685-REG/flipbac_fbg3_flipbac_camera_grip_g3.html
I use them on my M8/9/240.

Clean the area well with alcohol before attaching. Gives me enough leverage/grab to make them less slippery but without adding too much bulk. Can't use Leica grips though (which I dislike anyway).

i ended up having to buy a package that had an assortment with different sizes. i first bought long ones, but they were too long.
these were too long, 13mm:

this package had one that worked, but i'm not sure of the length. it may be 10mm.

So I got my grip 3D printed (a bit more pricey here where I'm at due to the limited number of printing options I guess). It's an EXACT fit... whoever designed the grip did a fantastic job.
Just awaiting the tripod screws to come in so I can fit it and have a Leica CL grip! Yay!

Might be nice to have the right side of the "handle" part of that grip taller and cut out to accept the shutter speed dial?

That might work if you only slide your finger over the shutter dial to rotate it. However, sometimes I use both my fingers to rotate it and having the handle block a part of it would make it more difficult to use.

10mm length works well on my 3D printed grip. Again from Amazon, without the D ring, as the CL bottom comes away from the rest of the body https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OOLKD5I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Edit 08/17: 10mm not quite so good as I thought, as I have two grips from different suppliers. Needs a washer to reduce the length. I have tried black plastic screws from a camera bracket. I suggest that 8mm wd be a better length for the screw. The D ring screws I tried wd not fit into the recess in the bottom of the grip.

The 3D printed grips have turned up on eBay, interested but a little pricey compared to costs quoted elsewhere on this thread.
