I'm new to this forum so Hi to all. I just purchased a Fuji Gw670ii from Keh. The camera is in excellent shape. The counter says 480 which I guess is the nhumber of rolls of film through it How many rolls of film can I expect to get out of this camera? If I want to get this camera serviced is there any place anyone can recommend?

Art,

I'm sorry to say that the Fuji GW670 cameras were only designed for a maximum lifespan of 481 rolls of film. You have one roll left.

Then, the camera will physically disintegrate in your hands. The small parts will roll under the furniture and refuse to come out, except for the parts that will tease your pets.

Your hair will fall out and you will develop halitosis.

It's a very bad thing indeed.

You'd better send the camera to me.

I can spare you from this horrible fate.

Please?

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

PS - Just kidding. It's a great camera - one of the best ever, IMHO. I have the G690 - older and heavier, has interchangable lenses. The glass on these cameras is nothing short of amazing - truly amazing. Get a flatbed scanner like the Epson PHOTO Perfection with the 4x5 light adapter (has a mask for 6x9) and have yourself a ball. Absolute bliss.

As to repairs, mine actually is in need of repair itself (don't worry, I suspect mine has been used much more than yours). I will probably be sending mine to Essex camera (on the web, sorry I can't look it up at work right now). I have heard they're good - but don't know from experience.

Hi Art -- You're going to have fun with that overgrown Leica, and surely get some great images to admire. The Exposure Counter counts exposures (not rolls) in units of 100. So 480 indicates 48000 pictures shot by your camera. Possibly around 2000 rolls of film... My Fuji GA645Wi has the same feature.

If you cannot determine from the previous owner the dates and nature of its last servicing, then it might be a good idea to have a CLA (clean, lube, adjust) done on it, like having periodic service on your car.

Your local qualified camera repair center should be able to do this. There is a Fuji expert available for difficult repairs/service, who managed to fix my damaged GS645S at a reasonable price, finding unobtainable parts in the process...
