GW670III Polaroidback

Hello,

I'm a very happy owner of a Fuji GW670 III and since a few weeks i'm even happier since i managed to buy a NPC polaroidback for the Fuji. My next challenge is getting it attached.
Is there anyone who managed to change the back? had the back removes?
Or who opened the FUJI housing? Or owns a service manual?
As you can see i'm happy with all info.

I can't find a camera store here in the Netherlands who can do it for me and sending it to the states and back is way to expensive.
I don't have 2 left hands but i'm still a bit scared of destroying the camera i love so much.

All tips are very welcome!

This intrigues me. Never heard of a GW-series Polaroid conversion before, let alone a purpose-built kit. Wish I would've known about this before I sold my GW690- that would've made a great Polaroid camera! What type of film will it use?

It uses the same type polaroids that go in the Hasselblad an Mamiya Back.
I use the Fuji FP-100-C, they are nice and still around.

The back has a spring loaded hinge so you can easily remove it.
The only problem now is removing the old back.
Btw this back also works on the GW690.

Btw that isn't a crack in the glass its the reflection of the lamp above my table 🙂

basically you have to remove the hinge pin that holds the door on the back of the camera. It's probably spring loaded, I will look at mine to see if I can figure it out. it should be fairly simple. The downsides are the camera then basically becomes dedicated to using polaroids only. Also there's no way to switch backs mid-pack since there is no darkslide. Take good care of the fiberoptic block, it's pretty fragile and can chip easily on the corners/edges.

I was once curious if there was any option for Polaroids, as the 6x9 format of these cameras is perfect for it.

Turns out that NPC, who made this backs, also adapted the film backs by giving them the spring loaded pin for switching backs. Too bad Fuji didn't do it back in the days.
I think an Instax back for a GW690 would be quite fun!

My OM has interchangeable backs through this same system.

Hi just wanted to report back, I managed to get the NPC polaroidback on the camera and wanted to share the knowledge.

But first, thanks to JChrome and Frank Marshman (from Camera Wiz).
Jchrome helped me getting the bottom and the top off. Sadly i couldn't get to the hinge that way, so i gave up.
In an last attemped i tried getting into contact with Camera Wiz, who i knew was able to change the backs on Fuji's. Sadly it closed some time ago but after some searching i came in contact with Mr. Frank, who showed me how to get to the Hinge. Thanks again Frank! So here it is for posterity.

First you want the camera to face you. There is a rubber for the fingers of your left hand. You want to get this rubber off. Behind the rubber are the screws to take the front plate off. (and they were there all the time)

You will notice that the front plate still won't come off afterwards.
Take out the screws, on the hinge side the camera, from the bottom and the top. This way you can push those up and down a little to make way for the front plate to pass.
When it comes off you will see the screws that hold down the Hinge itself.
The hinge is not attached to the bottom and the top as you might expect. Its a little bracket attached to the side.

After screwing the hinge off the body, you can get the Hinge itself from the door with a little force outwards.

How this is of any help to anyone someday.

As off the the polaroidback, there extremely hard to find, and its quite hard to look trough the viewfinder but the results are awesome!
