GW690 In the Cold

For anything with experience, how well do the GW690III(And its siblings) cameras hold up in cold weather? I'm talking about 10F/-12C or so. Any tendency to freeze up, or are they hearty sno-beasts like an RB67?

Wait, 10F is cold weather for Minnesota?!

Those cameras do fine. Leaf shutters have very little lubrication to freeze up. But be careful with condensation.

I've used mine (GW690II) in temps around 5 to 10ºf without any problems. I'm more concerned about the filum so I double stroke very slowly. But what do I know, I just take pictures.

True. Perhaps coldish would be a more accurate. I'm just thinking of use for when being outside for more than two hours doesn't hurt.

Shooting in heavy snow I like. Done it plenty of times with my rb67 and yashica mat. Rain I find to be just annoying.

Shot GW690III in around 0C degrees. No problems.

Excellent. My gw690III arrived today-odemeter read 006. I'm already in love with the comic hugeness of it. Now to find a nice low profile flash for it.

It's not much bigger than a Canon 1DS MKIII. But fortunately different.

True. Only it feels to weigh much less than the last dSLR I've held as well.

I guess it wouldn't take too long until you'll search for the GSW.😀

Indeed. I was torn over which one to get initially. I don't doubt myself getting a GSW in the future.

When in MN I used a Nikon F3 at -20. The LCD display goes blank (solid dark until warm again). The camera worked fine, I just couldn't read the meter. If there is no LCD and the camera battery is protected from the cold, or a non alkaline, you should be fine. Slowly advance the film!

Got a Metz 32CT3 instead. It sits well on the camera.

Although I'm sure it is possible with other cameras, I was completely excited today to learn that I can reload the film in my gw690III while wearing my winter gloves.
