As I know most of you also surf the leica-users-forum website, I read an interesting set of threads about bypassing the Leica coding for non-Leica lenses for use on the M8. Seems that the coding bits for each lens length is easily available, and with gaffers tape and a sharpie, you can "code" your non-leica lenses so that the M8 thinks the lens you have mounted is a Leica lens of the appropriate length. This enables full "vignetting-correction" in the pre-processing of the camera picture files. Since I have primarily CV lenses (which are sufficient for my use), this really increases my desire for an M8- not having to spend $$$$ for Leica brand lenses!
