I received my replacement Olympus Trip 35 today. The first one I bought came and remains broken. This one was quite a treat. I got this from the original owner making me just the second owner of this early Trip 35.
It came in the original box with the case, lens cap and original wrist strap. Then I started digging in. The camera is fully functional and only needs some cleaning and new light seals. It seems that the original owner knows how to take care of his cameras.
The serial number and date code tell me that the camera was made in February, 1968. This Trip 35 is from the first run of cameras which are different from the later ones. I have learned that these early ones have ASA up to only 200, have the distance icons all in orange. The chrome is shiny instead of matte. The film pressure plate is attached at 3 points instead of 2. I have read that there are also other metal parts inside that became plastic or were just removed from later models.
So far I am very pleased to have this Trip 35.

That's a great find!
Light seals shouldn't be too difficult to fix - just takes time getting all of the old gunge out.
Should give you hours of pleasure.

Aki Asahi sells precut light seal sets for a few dollars. How can I find out when my Trip was manufactured? Is there a way to decode the serial or what?

I have sent 2 Trips for a CLA to fatluckdigi and he did a fantastic job. He also sells refurbished Trips and light seal kits.
The Trip is an incredible camera.
Last year I went to a festival where Joanne Shaw Taylor was playing the Blues.
There were many photographers with huge Nikon and Canon DSLRs.
But some weeks later I was told that the best shot of the concert has been taken by my Trip35!
If I ever sell my 35mm stuff, my black Trip will stay with me.

What a wonderful world of photos waiting to be captured with my Trip 35. I am amazed by the quality of the pics. Have shoot 6 rolls with it and its not the camera that is the limiting factor. Mine has a minor damage on the front lens that do not seem to lessen the joy of watching the great results.
I have two rolls to develop tomorrow and its as fun as when I check my pics from my Leica cameras.
