Hi Dave,
Now and then I look at a photograph I've taken and the term 'dignity' does come to mind ... here's a couple that fit the bill for me.

If these do not say "dignity", I have failed the Cuban people.

Nomad living in a tent in the Sahara and owns a chicken and a goat. Has loads of dignity, it seems to me...

So far I'm just seeing people (and a bit of graffiti), no words.

Well since this thread has taken a slightly bizzare turn.......Its hard to look dignified when a metal pig is begging for his lunch. But I think this guy does it pretty darn well.

Ah, Keith, you have hit upon what I was looking for..
And thanks to Mr. Dylan,
this is my own "version of death called life":
Englishman stranded in the blackheart wind
Combin’ his hair back, his future looks thin
Bites the bullet and he looks within
For dignity
Someone showed me a picture and I just laughed
Dignity never been photographed
I went into the red, went into the black
Into the valley of dry bone dreams
So many roads, so much at stake
So many dead ends, I’m at the edge of the lake
Sometimes I wonder what it’s gonna take
To find dignity
Looking within... it is hard.

Here in China the newspapers and magazines are filled with pictures of "dignity", unfortunatly it is so used that it becomes something else, "propaganda"

After reading through Roger's thread on photographing the poor, I thought it might be good to get some fresh thoughts on THIS thread.
The original question is, "Has anyone ever photographed "Dignity"?"
By that, I mean, when one looks at the image the first time, does the word "dignity" come to mind immediately so that there is that communication involved between the subject, the photo and the viewer of the photo? Some examples posted already are getting close.
Please post some more, as I would love to see that interaction.

Aboriginal woman living on the streets with a drinking problem ... but I still see the dignity of her race in her eyes along with a fair amount of pain.
