Helen Hill finally says Ciao ... it's been Fun

Deep breath everybody .
Families fall out but they hang together .
It`s been a bad year and folk are feeling fractious
We`ve all got too much time ,energy and commitment in this forum .
Lets all keep going .

Somehow I missed everything that's been going on. But RFF will not be the same without Helen and Huss. Not sure who stepped on who's toes, but banning people for disagreeing on a new product intro seems to be a community killer.

Have had nothing but good interactions with both Helen and Huss for over a decade, will greatly miss them both.

I will certainly keep in touch with you Helen, and if anyone knows an email contact for Huss, I'd love to have that as well.

Best,
-Tim

I completely missed the movie as I had all of the people involved (but not Helen) on my blocked list so I never had to see any of their posts.

In real life, I turn around and walk away from those whose speech I find rude and offensive. On line, I simply block their posts.

Dear oh dear, you love regurgitating my 'banning', don't you. At least for now, I like RFF, warts and all and I'll keep on posting whenever, whatever. In the meantime, I sincerely wish you all the best. Cheers, OtL

Whoa. Huss was “banned”? Benign Huss? Consequently Helen is gone? What a poor way for me to wake up and start my day. Not just me obviously. That’s a chain of events that should never have been allowed to happen. Can someone hit rewind?
No words.

I have to say that on issues of interpersonal "politics" I am a babe in the woods. I was totally oblivious to those politics till something like this comes up. I am sure that in my case it is because I am only interested in the topic not the other stuff that is ancillary to it so I tend to ignore it. If there are people I like (and there are) then that is fantastic. If there are people that are not to my taste (especially if abusive etc. on a personal level I will avoid interactions with them).

But I suppose what I am saying is that I have worked in largish organizations for years until retiring and know that politics of this personal sort are everywhere including in clubs, community organizations, charities etc. While embroiled in a career it may be necessary to play the game of personalities to climb the greasy pole but I believe that when in a club of this sort which is only about sharing the enjoyment of a pastime with like minded people, it is best (in so far as possible) to ignore those issues and concentrate on the subject matter.

None of this is meant to be judgmental about Helen of course - we all have our limits and she had obviously reached hers. I am simply saying let's not get into the mode now of pointing fingers. If we do, we run the risk of damaging something that has certainly been part of my life for many years now, and no doubt the same can be said for many others.

Having said that I will say that I wish some people would learn some social skills and not be dogmatic or abrasive (its a wish that I suspect will be mostly futile, I know). Those persons shall remain nameless. I say this only as a hint to them. But in the mean time I am with Bob Michaels although I cannot claim to have blocked many people - though I still pretty much managed to miss the movie. :) (see Bob's post below ).

I wish you’d reconsider Helen. Are you sure Huss was banned? I still see his posts. As far as the others that haven’t been banned, but maybe should be... that’s life. They’ll dig their own grave eventually. I like a fiery debate sometimes, but I’m not one to hold a grudge... unless you’re on the wrong side of human rights violations.

Wow.

I'm totally in the dark.

I understand this is the Internet and a public forum, so out of respect I can understand when someone moves on.

Helen will always be a friend though.

Cal

I am gobsmacked, Helen (to use a British term) sorry to see you go from this fine forum.

I am sure if we had a chance to interact in person and face to face on this forum then very few forum members would be expelled and pleasantness and good bonhomie would be more common and we would agree to disagree on good terms on opposing views, as everyone is an individual and everyone has had a different life-experience and life-opinion but alas this is not possible on the world wide web.

Helen, hopefully you let us know where you host your fine photos for us who admire your work and want to follow any new photo postings.

All the best to you!

Wow, there are holes in my heart for several different reasons.

I understand and respect your decision Ms. H.

This is all so sad...

This is all so sad...

Goodbye Helen, take care out there and remember we'll all be here if you change your mind.

Regards, David

This is a great loss to the forum, especially as Helen is an extremely talented photographer and is/was one of the few female contributors here. I am very sad to see her leaving.

Stephen,

I must have entirely missed whatever led to Helen's decision to leave. I understand that you run this site as part of your business and that it's your forum and your rules. I don't know if my opinion counts for anything (I don't post that much but I have been a member of this forum for 10+ years and have always enjoyed it and appreciated you running this forum). I hope that you reach out to Helen and attempt to address her concerns.

Hi Helen, what a shame! I have no idea what has gone on, but I can only wish you the best and ponder the situation. Will shoot you an email later, it's just past midnight here and I'm about to go to sleep.
