Help! A big box of Hassel...blad

Thanks Nokton48, that's 2 or 3 checks I was unaware of and have not done.

I have to take the box of goodies back this morning. I'll discuss these things
with the owner.

Since I don't really have the $$ for it right now, I'm thinking of asking my friend if he'd be interested in me putting it up for sale here on RFF.

Maybe even an AUCTION type sale with a reserve of $550 or so and let it
run for 5 days. Highest bidder wins the entire package, including the pack of
outdated polaroid film... :)

What do ya'll think? Is that a stupid idea? :eek:

I would say it would be easier to get another finder and sell off what you already have. There are differences in the vintages of the old 'blad Flip-up finders. And, you would have to find just the right one, on Ebay or in a camera store junk box. Not an easy job, especially when you can buy a complete one for $30. Any of them will fit your camera
 
I have everything in that kit (and more) except that Pistol Grip. I have the side handle grip which I like better. Like some of the guys said, check prices at KEH, but they tend to be just a little on the high side (just a little).

That 150 Sonnar lens is my absolute favorite. I picked up a 50mm Sonnar for my M3 because I like the Sonnar rendering so much.

...and I rarely use my 80mm anymore so don't let that lens not being in the kit bother you.
 
If you want everything in that kit then it's always nice being able to buy it all in one fell swoop. Cheaper too. If it were me though, I would only want the body and magazine, as the rest wouldn't get enough use to justify the purchase.

Assuming almost everything in that box is something you would otherwise spend money on anyway, were you to invest in a Hasselblad, I'd probably offer $700-$800. If not, then I wouldn't bother unless your friend will let you have it at a price where the extras don't cost much extra. You have a lot of options when shopping for Hasselblad stuff.

Oh and expired traditional Polaroid films don't last very long, refrigerated or otherwise.
 
Last week, I got a 500 c/m, wlf, a12 back and the 80mm cf lens all for $740 shipped. Everything was in EX condition except the back because the serials didn't match. I'm scanning my test roll now and everything seems to be perfect.
 
the markings needed from the Sonnar are on the inside square curves by the glass. It's a small red stamped 4-digit number. Kinda hard to find.
 
I just ran all the tests on the camera and lense that David Odess
suggested via Nocton48, including the strobe test. All passed with flying colors.

Now I guess I'll have to run a roll through to film test it.
I just wish I had a beautiful model to aim this Hasselblad at.
It seems almost criminal to do otherwise. :rolleyes:

Oh, ok.... Actually there are two sets of numbers in red.
1110 and spaced about an inch to the right of that 1204
 
You can also check the years of the film backs. Just like the serial number on your body starts with the two letters- RV, your film backs will have similar serial numbers. Those two letters tell the year.

The letters on the backs will tell you the years. Match up the letters to the numbers:

V H P I C T U R E S
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0

to give you the last two digits of the year. Your body is RV= 81
 
Hmmm... An interesting side note. This Sonnar lens was made in April of 69, just 3 months before the first moon landing. :rolleyes:
 
I'd offer around $650-800. The Sonnar looks very nice, but as others said it's the older 'C' model, starting to get rather aged, and not T* coated. They're really a dime a dozen, but this looks like a nice example. Note that I shoot 150 as a walk-around lens fairly often, so it's not only for portraits.

I prefer the C uncoated lenses. The rendering of this glass is much nicer than the T* glass to me.
