I disassmbled the top of my retina IIa to lubicate the sticky range finder pivot point. I then reasembled being careful to follow the instructions for ressembling the frame counter from Chris's camera pages . Now the frame counter will not count. Tryed dissassembly and reassembly a couple of more times but still no luck. I guess it is the ratchet spring but it looks just fine.
Does anyone know what actually goes wrong with the spring, does it hav a paw or something that breaks off, is it fixable?

I've had a couple of these springs break. Micro Tools sells new ones at an exhorbitant cost so I bought a couple of 'parts' quality IIa's very cheaply to get a good spring. Then I sold the remains of the two donors so the spring cost me less than nothing. Check Micro Tools for a picture to compare your spring with:

The Retina Ia uses the same spring, so a cheap example could make a good donor camera.

This will lead directly to the picture of the spring:

the tab at one end acts to of push the tooth of the counter when winding lever completes traveling, unfortunately if forced at the '0' counting it breaks rather easily
I obtained one from Chris for a replacement.

Its strange because my tab looks to be in good shape. I wonder if it is only slightly bent or something?
