Is this an official M-Hexanon lens?

I see this lens mentioned sometime, but it's not listed along with the other M-Hexanon lenses 90mm, 28m and 35mm. I am very happy with Hexanon 50mm, so can I expect similar quality in 35mm? How would it compare to Biogin 35mm or Summicron 35mm?

I sometime see Hexanon 35mm f/2 in L-Mount. Is this the same lens, but with just different mount? If so I should just get a LTM adapter for it to work on my Zeiss Ikon with no further modification?

I also see UC lenses. these are about half the price. What are these lenses about? Are they different lense?

I have one. It's a KM mount, the size of a Leica Summilux Asph, but only f2. It's mortally sharp wide-open, and it's also a very good fit with a Leica M. There were some initial problems with the focusing between camera bodies (this was made for the Konica Hexar RF), but they were solved in later models.

If you're considering one, go for it. They're great tools!

It's not the same as the UC Hexanon in L mount. I have the M-Hexanon and it's sharp and great bokeh and all that, but it's not what I would call a "character" lens. It has very little "fingerprint". Sorry, groping for words here. The UC Hexanon seems to have quite a strong signature. I often wonder if I'd be happier with a UC Hexanon, but lately I just use a Nokton which seems to give me everything I want (except compact size).

I had one. Much better wide-open than the over-priced 4th gen. Summicron. Better built, too.

At the time I bought it they were a bargain, but they might be pricey now if collectors are interested due to rarity.

It is a regular M-Hexanon and I had one for a very short while but unaccountably I found it clumsy to use. As Francisco says it has roughly the same shape as a Leica 35/1.4 ASPH & I find that lens a real joy to use. Go figure. The 35/2 M-Hexanon is generally well regarded on this forum.

What about the NON-UC ones in L-Mount? Are they the same as the M-Mount?

They are earlier version of the UC lens. The Hexar AF also has a variant
of the UC. All based on the historic Nikkor 35/1.8 design.

There are quite a few users of the 35mm UC-Hexanon here in RRF. I have one coupled with a Milich adapter, and its larger sibling, the 35 Lux ASPH, just sits in a bag at home.
