Hey folks, World Football Cup started

Maybe I'm just too American to understand the seriousness of this soccer thing appropriately, but isn't it in the end just a game?

"...it's not a matter of life and death...it's far more serious than that!" 🙂

And we haven’t even got to the cricket yet, Ashes this winter and its not looking good!!

True... and I mean this in all sincerity... we want to win against the best team possible! Bad luck about Vaughan. Fingers crossed Warne doesn't get into any trouble between now and then....

You may have to settle for beating a poor one the way things are going!

I hate getting mixed up in those kind of discussion, because I always say things I regret: the only one thing I would like to apologize for, is my statement about Spain; it is indeed a great team with great players like F. Torres who is a real threat (even if France dominated them). I love this country and this team! Viva Espagna!
In fact, there were several good teams. The point is the best team is the one which wins in the end. Good luck Italy! Go go France!
Marc
PS: Luck is part of the game, and always will be.

Dear Friends,
Since our basic drive gathering us all is photography and not football, I think the moment has come to thank the forum for allowing a football thread to rank among other threads as equal for the time being.

From now on, I think this thread should join those at the "And now..."

What we have been having at the last postings was nothing new in life, but a simple discussion among deafs, with each one going further enraged about why the other deaf cannot hear.

That's how families split, leaving children in disgrace. It happened to me when a kid.

How we become deaf ? When we don't accept the right of the other to deeply disagree, or imply in such a disagreement of the most obvious to us - a lack of basic common sense, intelligence, etc. etc.

To this, already bad, another factor gathered. We males when driving our cars in the road, are quite prong to get out of the car and start a bully fight with the other guy, provided he looks of minor size. Women as a general rule, get no less enraged but don't have that jungle instinct to jump out of the car and start a fight with their fists.

Assuming that a hundred percent of all of us want the RFF to flourish, including having more women members, we the males should never loose that good sense of being gentleman.

Let us never forget that women are those who, as a genera rule, clean our houses, raise our kids, cook our food, and have to find a very special moment to pick up a camera. Let us make a counscious special effort to make RFF a place where women can be treated opposite than in the road. Otherwise we will die younger than necessary, and alone.

Cheers,
Ruben

Nanny Ruben can I have one of your "special" muffins??? 🙂

You have better ones, my friend, within yourself. Just have to look after.

Cheers,
Ruben

PS: BTW, Aussie sellers at ebay - The best on Earth ! (This is the fourth time I stress it, and will continue )

Huh? Have i missed something? I have never been treated as anything other than equal on this forum. A personal reaction does not always equal a chauvinistic reaction. Disagreement can have its source in simple point-of-view, so why seek other motives?

Typical... I've had pretty average dealings with fellow Aussies!!!

OK let's say it again "TO SAY ....etc is not clever"!!!! I've never said "YOU ARE NOT clever", and the thing is I don't care, but I have my idea.
Bitter? Is that an insult???? If it is, please Kim (or any moderator), erase my posts.

Hi Marc,

I am bitter, mann.

I must tell you, and you can comfirm it along the thread, since France made the turning point when defeating Spain, I have been totally and absolutely hooked by the optimism of Zaidane and his team, which is seen as the oldies return, having double merit by that.

Zaidane seems to have spreaded his feelings to the whole of France and even many overseas new symphatizers, like me.

At these moments of joy and looking forward, I would very much like to view you raising above, and spreading here at RFF that fine spirit. Please.

Cheers,
Ruben

Ok Ruben, if you think I've been disrespectful by arguing that plying football is about scoring and that defense is as important as attacking, or that France is not "a poor team" (Jenni's quotation), fine by me.
Many thanx for the thread BTW,
Marc

Marc, you are a fine member, seriously, why not mooving to the saloon of Zaidane optimism, bring it here in your most creative way, isn't photography about seeing ? You can, you may, you must.

Vive la France ! (including Paris suburbs !)
