It was a lovely game and I enjoyed watching it very much with my friends.
Just one correction though, above it was mentioned that the referee for this match was the same one that refereed the match between Portugal and the Netherlands that got out of hand. Thats not true. The referee for the Portugal-Netherlands match was Valentin Ivanov from Russia. The referee of this game was Benito Archundia from Mexico.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game. I'm praying for an Italy-Portugal final.

IMHO germany was best in the second half, but in overtime they lost their momentum.

Jep, she found one who shared her interest in having kids, it's better this way

I have a lot of catching up to do so a couple comments as I go through this.
Yes, Grosso is, but he did well after he caught Klose's knee in his head.
What a well officiated game. Both teams played well and physical without any unnecessary fouls being called.

By far the best game of the tournament.
The final will be another great game, but Italy played beautifully today. The were very quick to the ball, particularly their defense, and they were ever so patient. Germany is a great team, they have played the most enjoyable soccer to watch in my opinion. They just ran into a better side today.

I think it'll be France vs. Italy. Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch tomorrow's game. And I can't think of ever watching the game via ESPN (shudder) which is what they show on pubs here; they talk out of their ::ahem:: and know as much about world soccer as I know about southwest college acrylic sand lacrosse skydiving (I'm sure they'd broadcast that first before any world games).akalai said:Think it will be Italy vs. Portugal.
I was surprised by Italy's win. I honestly just wanted the game to finish. Germany had Italy in check, until that second overtime.
I'm beginning to wonder about the power of "In Hoc Signo Vinces"
You know, Portugal vs. Italy is such a fashionably correct jersey match...
Then again, Italy vs. France...who doesn't like blue?

Yes, GO Portugal !
Hey Gianni, IMHO Italy was much better team yesterday, not only tiny bit as you say

Italy VS FRance..
Well on a second thought, i was happy and didn't bother, but some Germans did boo the italians during the antional anthem, the players didn't return the ball to Italy after an injury, which was encessary because it's only sportive...
The ref did give a couple of undeserved free kicks to germany, did gnore the italians many times, starting from the last 10 minutes in the 1nd half...
The atmosphere was killing for the italians, but they did very well...Another reason to respect that team with everything is going on around them...
I was watching Italia 1 yesterday and it was proposed that Juve will be down to serie C with 20 points deduction, LAzio & Fiorentina to B with 15 points deduction, Milan to B with 5 points deduction...
There are many players from these clubs, almost 90% of the NT, and maybe the itlaians are only good udner such pressure, which is the contrary of what was happening the past years, they leaned their lesson well...
Edit: Hard luck Socke BTW...
But things didn't really work for Germany on the offensive, cheer up, your team did well thsi WC, couldn't by any mean win this game, they did all they could, and again for that they deserve respect, as always.

It is cruel, but not sad, when you are given the privilege to watch one of the greatest gemes ever it can't be sad.
My simphaty goes to our German friends, it has been cruel to them, but had it been the other way round it would have been cruel to Italy.
I am looking forward to another great game on Sunday, but whoever wins it won't be like today, this semifinal had that special feeling that only a game between Germany and Italy can give.
An epic indeed - it should be set to opera music and televised again. Skill, passion, control, atmosphere. Fantastic match.

Third time my device at the beginning of the WC holds true: in the end the Italians always win 2-0!

In the end I think what made the difference was that the German players were with their heads at the penalties a couple of minutes too soon.
It's not over until it's over.

Newbie comment: Soccer seems to be a game for smaller men....the Germans must have had an average 2 inch height advantage over the Italians, but it seems quickness and acceleration trump size. You'd think the extra height would come in handy on corner kicks, but Italy didn't seem to have any trouble defending those. It's actually nice to see a game that doesn't favour giants, like basketball.
Judging from the number of corners the German goalie caught, it sure helps having a 6'4" guy in net though.

Well, with the US long gone and Germany out (fabulous game), I have to pull for France. I'd like to see Zidane go out on top.

Sorry for being jingoistic but "ALLEZ LES BLEUS"
It won't be easy as Portugal has great players and plays good football.
But again: "ALLEZ LES BLEUS"
