...a FSU rangefinder-holic!!!

Hello everyone!

I've gone and got myself a couple of FSU rangefinders off you-know-where! I ended up purchasing a:

Zorki-4K with a Jupiter-8
FED-3 with a Industar-61

Both combinations seem to be working OK although I did have some trouble selecting between a 60th and a 125th on the Zorki at one stage and it seemed to get very confused about shutter speed after removing the film. (I promise I didn't change the speed before cocking the shutter!) I'm putting these down to quirks that will happen from time to time.

Initial opinion is that the Jupiter-8 is a fraction sharper than the Industar but opinion may change as I continue to use them.

I love fully manual cameras and especially rangefinders. Who needs that big old mirror slapping around every time you take a picture?!? And as for auto-focus...BAH! 😉

I've put up some test images on my flickr space if anyone is interested in having a look.

Great shots! You are ahead of me in actually developing the film. I have several FSU's with different rolls of film in them from attempted outings in the past. One I'm looking at now says on a sticker "loaded tri x may 2000" maybe I should pack that one next weekend.......

Thanks for the kind words.

I hope you get a chance to finish off that roll of film just to see if the camera is working OK.

I'm quite excited about photography again at the moment after a long break from it and really enjoyed using both the FED and Zorki.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the lenses and hope to produce better images once I get more familiar with them plus get the hang of scanning etc...
