Well-known
SOOGZ is an adapter which allows one to use threaded 39mm filters on a lens (such as some Elmars and Summarons) which takes 36mm clamp-on filters. One recently sold on eBay for around $25. I decided to make one.
I bought an A36 clamp-on filter in which the glass was messed up for $10 (too much, but I was anxious to do the project) and removed the glass. It so happens that a 39mm B+W rubber screw-in hood has just the right inside diameter to slide right over the part of the A36 filter which holds the glass. I filed off the part of the hood that screws into a 39mm lens (which was no longer needed) and glued it onto the A36 ring.
The hood is threaded on the inside to take 39mm filters, so I now have a super SOOGZ which is a combination hood and filter adapter, all for $10 and a spare part.
Now if it just doesn't vignette..... 🙂
