Ho Chi Minh City

Ferrying grandmother around Ba Chieu Market. The elderly are respected in SE Asia. Grandmother also owns the house in which all other family members live.

The 19th Century Central Hospital is well preserved. In the foreground, a 'Grab' rider -the equivalent of an 'Uber' rider. As in the Northern Hemisphere, they are fighting for better pay and improved working conditions.

As we speak, scooters and motorbikes remain the mainstay of local transportation in this big city.

Many moons ago, my then employer, a very large international organization, went ''paperless'' and boasted about it. These guys have been ''paperless'' forever. All deals are done on a handshake.

Out to Lunch, on Flickr. End of the day. Closing the wet market around Binh Tay market, Cholon, Saigon. The blind man selling his lottery tickets; the fish mongers closing-up
shop, and some bike couriers picking-up the last loads of the day. The garbage will be gone within an hour with specialized pickers collecting the organic stuff, the plastic, the metal, etc...
