So I came across a Nikon F3 Body. I am thinking of picking it up possible for probably dirt cheap. The question. It has three holes in the shutter. It looks like the shutter got smashed at some point. The shutter curtain showing with the camera is cocked is fine though. It's the curtain when it is uncocked that has the issues. Here is the deal. I want to use the camera for nothing more than Astrophotography. I am not very worried about the holes considering it will be dark outside when I use it, but what do you think? I know there are some tricks for repairing a leica cloth shutter when it gets the sun burned holes.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I could send it in for a new shutter, but it isn't worth it to me to do it

hmmmmm.... You might have a point there Bill 😛 Especially since I have an F sitting on a shelf at home...

I wonder if you can get a matte screen for it?

EDIT: And thanks Jim. I will probably try you route as well. Why not, it can't hurt the camera any more, the shutter already has holes and is sitting in a parts bin!
