The rangefinder forum has wonderful diversity. There is a section for Leica M, Voigtlanders, Canon and Nikon, even a spot for Zorkis, but where does the humble Minolta CLE fit in? Is it just an "Other"?

Do the normal LTM lenses all work on the CLE?

EDIT: i mean M-mount not LTM, of course :bang:

I believe there are some limitations (IIRC, because of the light meter), but yes, it is an M mount camera. It has f-lines for 28, 40, and 90. (edit: btw, a GREAT camera, and a heck of a shooter—one of my favorites)

The CLE is a Leica M in disguise. Everything Leica ever dreamed about but were afraid (or unable) to build. Minolta took a huge step forwards in this electronically managed little gem.
I knwe the metering and exposure system from the SLR X700 for many years before I got to the RF world. I am still thrilled. Even a 50mm f1,2 will focus perfectly. I did calibrate the rangefinder specifically for this. AE exposure has its specific use and within those boundaries it works great.
The CLE is not perfect but it comes close. It is definetly worthy of having the M mount.

As for Pherdinands lenses question, most LTM and M lenses work on the CLE. Only very deep intruding ones give problems. The Summicron DR is not possible. Cameraquest has a section about this compatibility if I'm not mistaken.

Hmmm...Thanks.
Is a CLE with a 40/2 Rokkor in excellent condition a good deal for euro 500+?
[Just thinking...and drooling...]

Yeah Pherdinand, it is a good deal if perfect. I got the set for 400 euros. That's why Todd Hanz of the forum here got a good deal from me on the Rokkor.

I thnk I saw on an online Leica price guide that the M-Rokkor was "valued" at around $250-$300. It's a nice lens.
